We Work with IGM Children’s Homes to Care for India’s Most Vulnerable

At India Collective, we’re committed to working with community outreaches based in India to help those in need.
We support IGM Children’s Homes, a local, trusted charitable organization in India that has empowered 6,200+
children who have been orphaned, stuck in generational poverty, or trapped by the caste system since 1985.

IGM has 4 children’s homes across Tamil Nadu, in South India.

Meet Diviyia

Diviyia was one of the first girls in the IGM home who came from a very tough situation, being raised by a single mom. She had no self-esteem because she was often bullied, mocked, and even verbally abused by her mother.

When Diviyia arrived at IGM, she received the love and encouragement necessary to recognize her own self-worth and flourish. She excelled in her studies, earned a four-year nursing degree, and is now employed at a respected hospital. She is happily married and the proud mother of a baby boy.

Most of us think of poverty as hunger or homelessness. At IGM, they believe the deepest poverty is being unwanted, unloved, and unseen.

Founded in 1975 by Jacob and Shanthi Williams, IGM began when they opened their home in Chennai to seven abandoned children. Incorporated in 1985, IGM now provides safe homes, education, and community support for more than 250 children through four children’s homes and outreach programs.

Today, the next generation—Joe and his wife Eunice, and his sister Pearlyn — carry this mission forward, embracing every child with love, dignity, and the promise of a brighter future.
